More Olympics July 2012
This weekend on Friday the 27th we went to Mike and Dave's and watched the opening ceremony, then on Saturday the Men's road race came through Parsons Green so we went out and watched it! We have had quite a busy weekend, on Sunday after church we went to China Town for lunch with the Guptas and Monday night we went with the Howards to the theatre to watch Posh. The rest of the time and this week will be a full schedule of staying at home and watching the games - Josh is even getting a few days working from home to watch also - very exciting!

Anthony and Marta's Wedding in Kielce, Poland - 6-9th July
Outside the church with some other non-polish guests
This weekend we took a long weekend and flew out of London and into Krakow on the Friday morning and picked up our hire car and drove out to Kielce where Ant and Marta where getting married. The wedding was on Saturday. They got married in a local church – I did a reading in the church – the English version as the whole wedding was translated in both English and Polish. We then went back to the hotel we where staying at for the reception. Not only was wine and soft drink on the table but Vodka with these little vodka glasses and each toast was with a shot of vodka. In a Polish wedding it goes all night, so we had 5 courses in total or 5 meals in total spread out from the first one – which was like dinner with soup, meat, dessert, then every 2 hours another meal would come out and in between a buffet of salad, cold meat, cakes etc was all kept supplied. So much food it was unbelievable. The last course was served at 3am, when Josh and I decided to go to bed! On Sunday we left and drove back to Krakow where we spent the night before getting an early flight back to London.

Staycation
Tea at the Ritz.
Steve got into the spirit!
This weekend Josh and I took a days AL on Friday and are having a staycation - too tired to go on holiday really. On Friday we went for afternoon tea at the Ritz then in the evening we went to London Zoo. They open the zoo late in summer on the evening for adults only and have beer/wine/pimms tents everywhere and a silent disco so quite fun. We went with Steve, Larissa (whose bday to was), Kirsty, Larissa's friend Sarah and her husband and Nick. We where supposed to be joined by Audrey and Simon but they where working unfortunately - it was lots of fun.

Jubilee Weekend Saturday 2nd – Tuesday 5th June
The Felden Street Party on Monday
I would say Josh and I made cupcakes but Josh made them reluctantly!
Some of the street decorations - everybody decorated their houses.
Felden Rat House (our house - it's nickname as we saw a mouse once!) also decorated - a little - check out the pot plants with flowers in them - Josh did those specially!
Singing at the end of the night.
Guess what Dave found and brought in the house at the end of the night and after a few too many beers! Needless to say it went back outside quite quickly.
The Boat Parade on Sunday - these are the man powered boats.
Josh and I in our british dress!
The Queen!
More of the man-powered boats.
Tug boats - many more but I liked these the best.
Citizenship Ceremony - signing the register with my certificate!
We had a four day weekend this weekend because of the late May Bank holiday and because it’s the Queens Jubilee – 60years! So we celebrated in style. On Sunday we went to see the parade down the Thames, we went to a colleague of Josh’s house, which is overlooking the Thames – just before Battersea Bridge. We dressed up in our British colours and spent the day watching the boats, we saw the queen and had a BBQ. Then on Monday our street was closed for a street party, so we had Mike, Dave, Matt, Browyn and Kate around for our street party. We brought our own chairs and table and BBQ onto the street and spent the afternoon eating, drinking and even had a sing-along at the end, which included not only the national anthem but also Waltzing Matilda – the organiser was an Aussie! That evening we watched the concert at Buckingham Palace on TV and again we watched the queen’s carriages on TV. On Wednesday it was back to work but not before I had my citizenship ceremony!
