Harbour
This morning we walked down to the harbour and over the Galata Bridge. We went on the oldest underground up to Galata Tower. It had great views of the city. After that we went for a Turkish breakfast with the friend of Mayanks from last night. We met in Ortakoy, which is right by the sea. A traditional breakfast is cheese, olives, beef salami, pastry, spread and hard boiled eggs (by the end of the holiday we were so sick of this). After breakfast we looked at the markets and the Bosphorous Bridge. Afterwards we walked (for what felt like miles) to Dolmabache Palace. It was lovely and sunny and we both enjoyed a bit of sunburn. Unfortunatly, i also got blishter, i bourhg new shotes for walking, but didn't think about wearing them in! Sultan abdul Mecit moved to theDolmabache palace in 1843. The gardens and a kisok was laready there, from ht Pttoman Period - under Ahmet I. We looked around the ceremonial suites and the Harem quarters, and saw the bed where the famous Ataturk died in 1938.
In the evening we met up with Steve and his wife Larissa (friends of Josh and Mayanks from work) adn wetn out for dinner at the Seven Hills, which has a rooftop restaurant. It was beautiful, we could see the Aya Sofya and the Bule Mosque all light up. We ate and ate and ended the evening with a Shisha pipe.
