We started earlier today and left at 9am. We headed for the Reindeer Centre but it was closed so Josh drove us through the highlands to Ben Nevis. We stopped on the way at numerous points to take pictures – so beautiful. One of the most interesting things we saw was a view of the ‘parallel lines’ these are lines that can been seen in the hills from where the water level used to be in the ice age (check out the pictures – pretty amazing). We headed down to Ben Nevis and took a ride up in the Gondola. Something very unique and interesting about the highlands is the mist or fog it comes up all of a sudden and just sits there – quite close to the ground – check it out in the photos. It makes the landscape quite eerie. After Ben Nevis we continued along to Fort William (unfortunately the distillery was closed) but we did take a walk around town and have some lunch. After Fort William I took over the driving again to take us back up to Inverness. On the way we stopped at Loch Ness and we found the Nessy – check it out! We finally arrived in Inverness at 5.30pm. Marz and Shane departed then and headed off to their next destination (they have 4 more hours of driving to do). Josh and I had a walk around Inverness stopped into the Coop to get dinner and took ourselves on the sleeper train back to London. The train left at 8.30pm and arrived at 7.45am – just in time to go home, have a quick shower and go on to work. We sat up in the Bar Carriage and ate our snacks until about 10pm and then where so tired we went to bed and slept through to 7am!
