A weekend in Slovenia : Saturday 16 - Sunday 17th.

Kate, Larissa and I before we went Canyoning Larissa and I by the stream By the freezing cold stream in the afternoon Before the rafting People from left to right: Guide, Kate, Lucy, Sarah, Larissa, Paul, Josh, Steve This weekend, Larissa, Steve, Kate and myself all flew out on Ryanair on Friday evening at 7pm to Slovenia - we stayed in a town called Bovic in the Julian Alps. We rented a chalet for the weekend and where joined by Kate's cousin, husband and child.
The adventure started with the landing of the Ryanair flight in Venice, and our drive to the Chalet, which ended up being a lot longer than anticipated and as such dinner consisted of Haribo and soft drink (beer for the boys). We arrived at about 1.30am. The Chalet was lovely and when we woke in the morning the view was beautiful. Ready for a weekend of adventure we started off with white water rafting - check out the photos - only problem was the outside temperature was 28 degrees but the water was 8 degrees! We stopped half way through and jumped off a rock into the water for a swim - but since I lost my breath when I dived in, I decided that it was in not for me so at the end when we - well everyone else - got out of the boat the float the last bit I stayed in the boat and was paddled ashore - too cold! We had a nice meal out that night and got a slightly earlier night as the activities where starting at 9am the following morning. On the Sunday morning the guys went off and did Mountain Biking and us girls went Canyoning. We had a great time, heaps of fun sliding down the rocks, jumping off rocks and even abseiling down a bit! However, when we saw the boys - they where rather battered and bruised and in fact the 'mountain biking' was actually 'downhill mountain biking' which means you take the bike up the hill in the Gondola and you ride over rocks - or your supposed to ride and jump over rocks all the way down, except since it was their first time they spent most of the time on the ground - bike on top of them! Steve even managed to somersault with the bike. Nothing was injured - permanently anyway! Although Canyoning was scaring it was just the right amount of scary and we came off injury free. Canyoning is when you following waterway down a canyon to the bottom which usually also involves getting yourself down the waterfall to the bottom! After a few hours of this we where all really hungry and had a good lunch before embarking on the mammoth journey back to the airport where the Ryanair flight was delayed! It was an already late night, which meant that we arrived home at 3am! Everybody off to work today, a little tired but a great weekend.
More photos of the rest of the weekend to come.
