South of France: Day 1 Bordeaux, St Emilion

Dinner in Bordeaux
Clock Tower Cathedrale St Ange St Emilion - Josh is eating a Canali (French caramel/dessert/cake thing) St Emilion
Bordeaux region - all looks like this with all the vineyards.
We caught at 6.30am flight and arrived in Bordeaux at 9.30am only to pick up our car and head out to the medieval town of St Emilion without a hitch – unbelievable! The village is named after Emilion a Benedictine monk who lived in a cave here between 750-767. It’s now a uneso heritage sight and holds the largest monolithic church in Europe (means it was all carved out of one stone – in this case the limestone cliffs). We also visited the catacombs. In the afternoon we visited a chateau before heading back to Bordeaux where we looked around and saw the Cathedrale St Ange also a heritage sight where the lost part dates back to 1096. We stayed our first night in Bordeaux.
