Breakfast at the hotel the following morning - really nice and such a beautiful view outside!
Medieval town just up from Greve
Cocktails in the square of San Gimignano
Tuscan Hills
We didn’t get a good sleep last night at the party continued all night! Then at 10am they set up again! We left Florence today and drove through the Chianti region – really beautiful. We stopped first at Greve – the first town in the region. From Greve we took a massive walk all up a hill (well 25min) to a Medieval Village – really pretty. From Greve we went to Pazano, where we walked through the market to the top of the village (always a church at the top point of each of these villages) where we had a nice lunch overlooking the beautiful Tuscan hills. We drove through Castellina and onto San Gimignano – we are staying here the night, so we parked our car and unpacked then headed into the most amazing village. The city was built in the early middle ages , it was controlled by 2 great families the village feuded with surrounding places until the plague which devastated the population. Subjection to Florence destroyed the power of the nobles and as such they took down the majority of the towers (as these marked the nobles control). Only 15 of the original 72 survived – you can see them in the photo. We had a nice dinner and lovely sleep with no noise and sleep in – much to Josh’s delight.
