We woke up at 7am and since no running water we had a ‘baby wipe’ shower before being served fresh mint and coca leaf team and rice with chips for breakfast! A hug for our mamma and the purchase of her handmade Lama finger puppets and at 8 am we left the island.
We went again by boat to Uros Islands, these are floating islands, that are created - that’s right created - and made out of reeds by the locals who live on them for about 6 years, until the islands sink! Crazy! On one part of the island you could jump on it and it moved, you could feel the water!
We had a picnic lunch on the boat ride on the way back to Puno, where we checked back into the hotel and had a shower (a very short shower as the hot water is sparse in this hotel), drank more water and ate lollies – a nice afternoon. We met up with the rest of the group - there are 14 of us on the group altogether, 2 sisters from NY, friends from Canada, another girl from Canada, a couple from Boston, a guy from California, an Australian guy who lives in London and his two friends (girls from Australia). We all went for dinner and a folk dancing show at a local restaurant, lets just say the costumes where amazing but that was about it! Josh’s highlight was the men dressed up in bird costumes – dancing!
