Day 8: Saturday 3rd September

Campsite night 2 We made it to the top! The group at the top! The is was the last of the uphill put of the pathway - check how long it goes all the way down the bottom of the valley! The mist at the top of 'Dead Women's Pass'. The walk in the early morning with the mist in the trees - so beautiful - it was just around the corner where we saw the deer! Morning wake up call was at 5am with some coca tea, followed by another bowl of warm water! We had breakfast of porridge and omelette at 5.30am. We set off today at 6.30am on our hardest hike. Today we climbed from 3300m to our highest peak of 4200m above sea level, above what they call ‘Dead Women’s Pass’. We spent most of the day climbing up hill but since we left so early in the morning it was beautifully misty and not sunny at all. We actually even saw a wild deer! We then spent about 4 hours walking downhill to the campsite – also quite hard, especially on the knees! We used our hiking poles all day and they where very helpful! When we finally arrived at camp it was just before 1pm so we had a nice lunch of soup and chicken and then free time until Happy Hour at 5pm. I used the warm bucket of water to have a make shift bath – a bit like a birdbath! However, Josh decided to be brave and took a cold (freezing cold) shower! He then spent the next hour with all his clothes on in his sleeping bag trying to warm up! We had dinner a little earlier tonight at 7pm and went to bed about 8pm, as it will be another early morning with a 5am wake up call for a 16km hike up and down hill!
