On Friday we went out for dinner with Michael (blue top in the picuture) then went back to their place and watched some TV. On Saturday we went shopping to all the cheap shops in London and visited the town of Stratford and Lewisham. Then we had dinner in the pub (and men over 45 years of age tried to pick us up! It's good to know I still have it! Ha Ha). On Sunday we took our suitcases to the supermarket, as you have no car, it is the only way to carry groceries home otherwise they are too heavy - i tried that last week and almost donated my grocerie bags to the homeless on the way home as i thought my back, fingers and shoulders were going to break. I took a photo of Josh's building (work building) we walked past it on the way to the supermarket. We are going to order groceries online now and have them delivered as it took us about 3 hours to get to the supermarket, get the groceries - pack them in the case then try carry the heavy case up and down the stairs to the tube and then walk all the way home. Very time consuming and exhausting! It is the only thing that I miss about not having a car. But delivery is only 5 pounds each time and then they give you vouchers so you get one free delivery every 2 weeks, so we will do that! The first photo is of Canary Wharf, where Mike and Dave live, In the middle of a roundabout is this traffic light sculture thing - i took a photo - crazy! At Canary wharf there is 24hr security and they scan the cars before they go into the area. It has the tallest building in the UK there - this is all because all the American companies are located here - of course! It's all new developments and looks very much like the viaduct. There are water cannals around the docklands area - where Canary Wharf is located. The pubs are all like the ones on the viaduct too! Everybody looks like ants - all the business people in suits! Anyway it was a good weekend. Josh will write about Switzerland.
